Former Prime Minister and United Nations Development Programme Administrator, Rt Hon. Helen Clark will be speaking in Tauranga in September as part of the Suffrage 125 celebrations. Helen will take part in a discussion moderated by Elizabeth Hughes. After her talk, she will spend time answering questions from the floor.
This event is hosted by the Suffrage 125 Tauranga Committee. 2018 marks the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New Zealand. On 19 September 1893 the Electoral Act was signed into law, giving all women in New Zealand the right to vote.
This event will provide a rare opportunity for people in the Bay of Plenty to hear one of the world’s most highly achieving women. Helen Clark has been actively engaged on the global stage in battling poverty and inequality worldwide. She continues to be a strong voice for sustainable development, climate action, gender equality, women’s leadership, peace and justice, action on non-communicable diseases and HIV.
The event is free, but bookings are essential. Tickets must be presented on the night.
